Art In The Eye Of A Needle

Posted on 23rd August 2011 in microscopic art/ Willard Wigan

My boys have been chattering away today about a guy who makes art in the eye of a needle. They are fascinated by it and have given me in depth descriptions of the tiny sculptures and the methodology.

Having not seen it myself I decided to have a quick look on google and was amazed by what I saw:

According to my boys, Willard Wigan is dyslexic and as a child he turned to sculpting instead of school work as he was being ridiculed for being unable to read. Fortunately he was encouraged by his mother and so carried on making smaller and more intricate works of art.
Now he creates the microscopic art with specially designed tools:
You can buy one for yourself (although I fail to see how you display them?!) from as little as £3000!
