But My Poor Old Feet #100WCGU – week 153

Posted on 25th May 2015 in 100WCGU

#100WCGUWearily he answered the phone hoping it wasn’t another job.

‘Sixteen people across town, Cyril.’ Came the gruff order from his boss, no please, thank you or if you can. Just an order barked out with the expectation that it would be fulfilled.

He went to the pick-up point, collected his passengers and skilfully transported them; navigating muddy roads, leafy twig-ridden forest paths and slippery moss-covered stones.

Once back home again Cyril the centipede eased himself into comfy position, undid 100 sets of laces and began to nod off when suddenly the phone rang… ‘but my poor old feet…’ he cried.footprints

The Three Wise Monkeys #100WCGU

Posted on 16th March 2015 in 100WCGU

Three monkeys

The three wise monkeys they called themselves,

So crafty, so cunning and full of stealth.

Now that monkey three,  he’d said some stuff,

And as for monkey two, he’d heard enough,

Then little monkey one he could take no more –

The things he’d seen, made him cry and roar.

So the three monkeys went their separate ways,

They roamed around, alone for days.

Had each monkey known the other was a friend

They could have talked and worked a way to mend.

Instead each of them worried that no one cared.

How clever they could have been, if only they’d shared.

Egg Sandwich? #100WCGU week 59

Posted on 26th September 2012 in 100WCGU

It was a cold day but the sky was a brilliant blue and the view across the cliffs was clear. With the heater turned to full in their little camper van Barbara and Eric watched the man in the red coat as he shuffled ever closer to the edge. They grew impatient as he sat for what seemed like ages but then, in the blink of an eye, he was gone. Eric lowered the window and as they heard the faintest ‘plumpf’ Barbara opened the tinfoil package in front of her and passed it to him, “Egg sandwich?” she said.

That gruesome little snippet was my entry into week 59 of the 100 Word Challenge For Grown Ups. To find out more or to enter yourself, please click on the badge above.

100 Word Challenge For Grown Ups – Week #57

Posted on 13th September 2012 in 100WCGU/ cat/ cats

My first ever 100WCGU entry!

This week’s prompt is …returning to the routine…

The cat awoke. He stretched out a paw and felt that familiar ache in his shoulders. He noticed the sun was low in the sky and the grass was white-tipped. Time to feed, time to hunt. He scanned the skies, returning to the routine of his predecessors. A bird flew soundlessly above his head and landed on the old stump. Aching joints momentarily forgotten, he considered pouncing: tail twitching, claws outstretched. The back door opened and the old lady put down a saucer, the smell of warm fish wafted towards him. Who was he kidding; it was going to be fish for breakfast!
